Asian American Arts Centre is embarking on another year of providing Lower Manhattan and the Asian American Community with exciting and engaging cultural activities. AAAC continues to promote the preservation and creative vitality of Asian American culture through the arts, education, folk arts, and online venues.

One of the most exciting developments for the Arts Centre is making the Artists' Archive of over 1,500 Asian American Artists' entries into a free, publicly accessible web format. This process will continue into the next few years.

Please visit ARTASIAMERICA.ORG to browse or research Asian American Artists, their work and the documents that describe their lives.

Programming changes for our new location. Highlights include panel talks and lectures, which will also be videotaped and accessible online. Look for these and other offerings on ARTASIAMERICA.ORG and artspiral.org. New collaborations will enable AAAC to mount exhibitions and the ArtSlam program where innovative artists share their work while participating in critical cross-cultural dialogue with peers, art professionals, and the public.

The Children's Community Art School will become a collaborative program with Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) and will be held on Sundays, at 111 Norfolk Street. The presentation of folk artists will continue at CAPA's Heritage Festival in May. Also, The Lunar New Year Festival was expanded this year, as AAAC joined with AAFE and other community organizations to put on an event that lasted for several days in FDR Park (Feb. 12 & 13, 2010).

As you are aware, arts funding is always lacking. Resources are very limited for non-profit community arts organizations. With your help, AAAC was able to stave off the threat of eviction from its home in 2005. We have now moved, partnering with AAFE and our new home in their Community Center at 111 Norfolk Street.

Here are some of the exciting ways you can participate in AAAC and keep the Arts Centre thriving:

* Help AAAC publish Uncle Eng Sheung Chi's ToiSan 'Muk Yu' folk songs. * Be a Visual Arts Assistant! From Patron of the Arts to the knitty gritty details, you can be a part of AAAC's arresting contemporary exhibitions program:

*Promoter- gifts of $250 or more, to assist with marketing.
